The O'Neill Municipal Airport , also known as John L. Baker Field, is a public use airport located two nautical miles (3.7 km) northwest of the central business district of O'Neill, a city in Holt County, Nebraska, United States. It is owned by the O'Neill Airport Authority.〔 According to the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2009–2013, it is categorized as a ''general aviation'' facility.〔(National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems ) for 2009–2013: (Appendix A: Part 4 (PDF, 1.61 MB) ). Baker, a native of O'Neil who was a military fighter pilot in the Korean War, the United States Department of Justice's first air-crash attorney, counsel to the United States Senate, and the Federal Aviation Administration as Assistant Systems Administrator for General Aviation. He also served as president of both the AOPA and International Council of Aircraft Owner and Pilot Associations (IAOPA), the latter of which saw him represent 37 countries in the ICAO.〔http://www.avweb.com/news/profiles/182608-1.html〕 == Facilities and aircraft == O'Neill Municipal covers an area of at an elevation of 2,031 feet (619 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 13/31 with a concrete surface measuring 4,409 by 75 feet (1,344 x 23 m).〔 For the 12-month period ending July 28, 2009, the airport had 7,440 aircraft operations, an average of 20 per day: 99% general aviation and 1% military. At that time there were 11 aircraft based at this airport: 91% single-engine and 9% multi-engine.〔
